Fremont, CA: C Spire is moving forward with full implementation of a new advanced voice and data contract with the Mississippi Department of Information Technology that has promised to transform the state of Mississippi into a 21st-century technology powerhouse.
“We’re ready to provide next-generation advanced, 21st century technology that relies on fiber-optic infrastructure and ultra-fast, Gigabit speed internet access to meet the growing economic, job and growth needs in the state of Mississippi,” said C Spire CEO Hu Meena.
C Spire has finalized an eight-year contract with the state for voice and data services, wholesale internet access, hosted Voice over Internet Protocol, long-distance services, upgradation, and expansion of the state's college and university research network.
The state expects to save $32.8 million during the term of the contract while taking advantage of C Spire's network of fiber optic technology and advanced IP-based services that will surely keep Mississippi at the forefront of future innovation with the access to the fastest internet speeds – up to 100 Gbps.
In 2018, C Spire completed its major technology overhaul for the Mississippi Optical Network (MissiON) – the state's science and technology research and development wing - tripling capacity, managing its overall costs, and expanding the sheer size of the consortium of university and government entities.
